Tigers Complete 24-0 Shutout of Koalas

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (2-5, 1-0 AAC) won 24-0 over Columbia College (0-7, 0-1 AAC) at Younts Stadium on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tigers scored on the opening play as Madison Diaz picked up the first of her four goals off a pass from Avery McAlister. McAlister assisted on the first Hannah Voss goal, a little over a minute later, as Georgetown tallied 12 first-quarter goals. Diaz scored three more goals in the quarter while Hailey Voss notched a brace after the first 15 minutes.

Lyric Sidney started the scoring in the second quarter for the Tigers, who tallied on seven more goals. Maggie Byrd then added two consecutive goals, the only Tiger on the evening to score back-to-back opportunities. Hailey Nichols finished the scoring for the half with just under a minute to play, helping the Tigers to a 19-0 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Georgetown scored just three goals spread nearly equally throughout the quarter as McAlister, Vanessa Owens, and Hannah Voss all found the back of the net.

The fourth quarter saw both Voss sisters strike as Hailey scored with 5:32 remaining, while Hannah did so with just 43 seconds left.

THE TEAM
Georgetown had 31 shots to 5 for Columbia. The Tigers held a 13-7 advantage in draw controls. The Tigers collected 10 ground balls and made five saves. The 24-0 victory was the Tigers' first shutout this season and the first shutout since last season when they defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 22-0 on Senior Day.

THE PLAYER
Avery McAlister scored four goals and assisted on five more. She produced two ground balls and caused two turnovers.

UP NEXT
The Tigers stay on the road on Friday, March 13, when they take on SCAD Savannah (3-1, 0-0 Sun).

First draw is set for 6:00 p.m. against the Bees in the SCAD Athletics Complex.
