(RV) Tigers Defeat Cavaliers 21-4
BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (3-7, 2-0 AAC) picked up a 21-4 win on the road over Montreat College (3-5, 0-2 AAC) at Pulliam Stadium on Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown played in front the whole way as Madison Diaz scored the first of her four goals at the 13:41 mark of the first quarter. Hailey Voss and Vanessa Owens followed with goals of their own to make it 3-0 Tigers inside five minutes of play. The Cavaliers found their only goal of the opening period at the 8:15 mark before Georgetown tacked on seven more strikes to close the quarter up 10-1.
The second quarter was the most competitive from a goal-scoring standpoint as the Tigers registered five while the hosts added two more. Diaz started the scoring once again off a pass from Hannah Voss. After Montreat tallied one of its two goals, Diaz struck again. Maggie Byrd found the back of the net as well as Hailey Voss and Diaz closed out her day scoring with another goal, helping Georgetown to a 15-3 lead at the break.
Two goals marked the third quarter when Hailey Nichols scored on the advantage before Hannah Voss made it a 17-3 game just under five minutes into the second half.
Owens opened the scoring in the fourth for Georgetown, who tallied four goals in the final 15 minutes of action. Montreat added its final goal of the night near the midway point before Avery McAlister rattled home two, and Hannah Voss added a tally to make it a 21-4 game.
THE TEAM
Georgetown had 44 shots while MC had 19. The Tigers held an 18-8 advantage in draw controls. The Tigers collected 29 ground balls and made eight saves.
THE PLAYER
* Madison Diaz scored four goals off eight shots and had three assists. She had 10 draw controls and six ground balls.

The Tigers return home to host Truett-McConnell (2-5, 1-1 AAC) on Friday, March 27, for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day.
First draw is set for 5:00 p.m. against the Bears in Toyota Stadium.
