(RV) Tigers Fall to No. 2 Patriots in AAC Semifinals

WALEKSA, Ga. – The No. 4-seeded Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (5-12, 3-3 AAC) lost in Appalachian Athletic Conference semifinals 20-4 to top-seeded University of the Cumberlands (19-1, 7-0 AAC) at Ken White Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Patriots opened the scoring with three consecutive goals before Hailey Voss collected an unassisted goal at the 7:08 mark. Cumberland controlled a 4-1 lead through the first 15 minutes, tacking on an unassisted goal of its own with just over three and a half minutes remaining.

Madison Diaz cut the Patriots' lead to 4-2 to open the second quarter when she scored an unassisted goal. From there, though, the Cumberlands rattled off three straight goals before Vanessa Owens found the back of the net. Owens scored at the 3:21 mark of the second quarter and pulled Georgetown to within a 7-3 game.

Hannah Voss scored the Tigers' final goal of the day to open the third quarter. Just over a minute into the third, it was an 8-4 game before the Patriots tacked on six more goals in the quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Cumberlands add six more goals to go for the 20-4 win.

THE TEAM
Georgetown had 15 shots while UC had 42. The Tigers held a 13-11 advantage in draw controls. The Tigers collected 13 ground balls and made 16 saves. 

THE PLAYER
Madison Diaz scored one off three shots with six ground balls, five draw controls and five caused turnovers.
