The Georgetown Tigers women's soccer team opened its 2025 home slate with a 2-1 comeback win over the University of Michigan-Dearborn at Toyota Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The visitors opened up the scoring in the 12th minute on an impressive breakaway goal by Mallory Botten. After the early goal, the Tiger defense proceeded to shut down the visiting Wolverines' scoring opportunities for the remainder of the match. UM-Dearborn was held to only 3 shots on goal for the entire 90 minutes.
Despite the great defensive performance and keeping the ball on the Wolverines' side of the field for most of the game, the Tigers struggled to earn quality shots until late in the match. That changed in the 67th minute on a goal from Kali Settle, with the assist from Bekah Clark. Just nine minutes later, Bekah Clark was again involved in the scoring as she hit a beautiful shot that proved to be the game-winner. This time, it was Kendyl Rumple with the assist. The Tigers defense held over the remaining 14 minutes, giving GC its first win of the season.
The Tigers play again at home on Saturday at noon against Union Commonwealth University (KY). UM-Dearborn takes the field next Sunday against Albion College (MI).
