RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The Georgetown College women's soccer team (3-2-1) played to a 2-2 draw against Rio Grande (1-1-3) at the Evan E. Davis Soccer Field on Wednesday evening.
THE MATCH
After starting keeper, Oliva York, was tested by a shot in the opening minute, both sides settled in defensively. Trading possession and field position, the Tigers found their first goal of the evening in the 11th minute. Cadence Flamm scored her first goal of the season at the 10:16 mark to make it 1-0 Georgetown. Just over three minutes later, the equalizer was found when Rio Grande's Lexi Boyd buried a ball into the net. The hosts were a goal to the good in the 23rd minute when Saskia Vos beat York for the 2-1 lead, which was held at the break.
After a shaky start to the second half, the Tigers broke through in the 68th minute with their lone scoring opportunity of the half. Mallary Bailey knotched things at 2-2 with her goal at 67:02, her first of the season as well. The Tigers collected three more shots from there, with all being saved as they hung on for the 2-2 draw.
