Bearcats Bag Two Second Half Goals to Beat Tigers

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Georgetown College women's soccer team (4-5-1, 0-2 MSC) fell 2-1 to Brescia University (5-2-0, 0-0 RSC) at Kamuf Park Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

THE MATCH

Wasting little time, Brescia registered what would be its first of four first-half shots just 21 seconds into the match. Tiger starting keeper, Olivia York, saw the first three shots come her way go off target before standing up to her first challenge in the 24th minute. York made the save and set up the Tigers for the halftime lead. As the clock spilled over to the 42nd minute, the Tigers found the back of the net. Mauds Ceulemans had the first touch on a set piece from near midfield, which bounced down to Kayla Serdenis's foot inside the box for a shot that was ultimately redirected in off the head of Sophie Paul for the goal.

The Bearcats really settled in the second 45 minutes. In the first 15 minutes of the period, they had six shots, one of which was converted for a goal. In the 66th minute, a foul inside the box by the Tigers set up the hosts for a penalty kick goal to level the match at 1-1. The Bearcats pushed ahead in the 78th minute behind Ana Victorica's second goal of the day, which proved to be the difference.
