Tigers Fall in Four to Campbellsville
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Georgetown College volleyball team (2-10, 0-2 MSC) took a road loss to Campbellsville University (11-10, 1-1 RSC) in Gosser Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
The CU Tigers defeated the GC Tigers in four sets, winning 25-15, 25-10, 24-26, 25-15.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tigers traded points to start the opener as neither team gained much of an advantage until a 5-1 run by Campbellsville gave the hosts a 16-11 lead. Georgetown only managed four more points from there as CU took the opener, 25-15.
Georgetown took the lead at 4-3 in the second set before a 7-0 run put them back 14-6. Campbellsville closed the second set on a 10-2 run to win, 25-10.
The Tigers came out sharp in the third, leading 4-0 and 8-3 before Campbellsville made things interesting. CU tied things at 10-10 before the Tigers responded with some quality service points. Georgetown led 18-14 before playing to a 20-20 tie. The Tigers trailed 24-22 and fended off match point twice before rallying to score the final four points of the third to win 26-24.
The Tigers started the fourth set strong as well before things turned south at the 10-8 mark. CU won five of the next six points and then used an 8-0 run to close the door on a potential fifth set. Campbellsville took the fourth, 25-15.
THE TEAM
Georgetown hit 0.177 as a squad, with CU earning a .411 mark. The Tigers had 42 kills and 39 assists. Georgetown produced four blocks and four service aces with 40 digs.
THE PLAYERS
* Giara Ferrari produced a team-high 11 kills with two digs, a service ace, and two block solos.
* Mallori Dunn-Martin added nine kills to go with seven digs and a service ace.
* Faith Miller amassed 14 assists, a dig, and a service ace.

The Tigers close the week up with a Friday night matchup against Cumberland (18-7, 2-0 MSC).
