Tigers Get Road Win with Sweep of Bulldogs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Georgetown College volleyball team (3-18, 0-9 MSC) picked up a win over Boyce College (6-13, 3-2 Mid-East) in the Health and Rec Center Main Gym on Thursday night.

The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs in three sets, winning 25-16, 25-22, 25-23.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After both sides traded the first six points, the Tigers created a little separation when they doubled their lead to 13-7 off consecutive Bulldog attack errors. Boyce collected three straight points to pull within 17-13, however, the Tigers called a timeout and went on to rattle off three points of their own. Georgetown went on to win the opener, 25-16.

Georgetown jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and did not look back. Despite the Bulldogs playing to an 8-8 tie, the Tigers remained in the driver's seat. In fact, from there, the next five points went to Georgetown, forcing Boyce to call a timeout. The Tigers called time after a small run by the hosts made it a 17-16 game, but Georgetown once again responded out of the break. This time, they took five of the next seven points and went on to finish off the set, 25-22.

In the third, the Tigers left no doubt in the early goings. Rattling off seven of the first eight points, the Tigers' offense was clicking. Boyce did not back down, though, as the Bulldogs played all the way to a 12-12 tie and ended up taking a 15-12 advantage. Trailing 17-13, the Tigers called for time and righted the ship. Georgetown tied things at 21-21 and capitalized on some pivotal Bulldog attacking errors to come from behind to win, 25-23.

Georgetown hit .128 as a squad, with BC earning a .028 mark. The Tigers had 30 kills and 29 assists. Georgetown collected 12 service aces and 55 digs.
