Tigers are Receiving Votes For First Time in Latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches Rating of the Year

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College women's wrestling team is receiving votes in the latest NAIA women's wrestling rating released by the NAIA on Thursday.

Jes'Onia Barefield is now the #16 ranked wrestling, collecting 19 points, coming off her performance at the Indiana Tech Open. She finished the open with a 2-1 record, falling only to then and currently ranked No. 2 Rose Kaplan in the championship match.

A'Niyah Sullivan also shot into the rankings and is now ranked #17 in the 180 weight class. Sullivan was the final placer for the Tigers with a 4-2 record in the 180-class at the Indiana Tech Open and collected 16 points in this rating.

Life (Ga.) continued to lead the way in the NAIA Women's Wrestling Top 20, holding firm at No. 1 with 233 points in the latest rating. Grand View (Iowa) remained steady at No. 2, keeping pace at the top as the rest of the rankings saw movement behind them.

Providence (Mont.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) each moved up one spot to No. 3 and No. 4, while William Penn (Iowa) slid two positions to fifth. Southern Oregon posted the largest climb inside the top 10, jumping three spots to No. 9, while several programs continued to trade spots throughout the Top 20, including Missouri Baptist, which entered the rankings at No. 20.

The Running Eagles added two new wrestlers to the No. 1 spot in the individual rankings, with Salyna Shotwell checking in at the top of 117 pounds and Reka Busa at 180, giving the program six total wrestlers ranked No. 1. Jordan Suarez of Wayland Baptist (Texas) made an appearance at the No. 1 spot at 145. Grand View (Iowa) had seven wrestlers ranked within the top five, while Providence (Mont.) saw six within the top five.

The Tigers have had nearly two weeks off since they last competed in the Indiana Tech Open.

The Tigers hit the mats one more time in the regular season when they go to the Blue Raider Opener on Saturday, February 7.

The open starts at 10:00 a.m.
