SCORING SUMMARY
First Quarter:

  • The Tigers started the game with the ball and were quickly stopped after gaining one first down.
  • Cumberland's first drive went for negative yardage before the Tigers took over and went on another 3-and-out.
  • After the Patriots' offense also stalled, Georgetown took the ball over again with 6:11 to play in the first and got the scoring started.
  • Clayton Davis caught a 30-yard pass from Gehrig Slunaker for the first touchdown of the day.
  • The Patriots quickly had the answer, though, scoring on a 61-yard toss on their next drive to tie things at 7-7 before the end of the first.

Second Quarter:

  • The Tigers' first drive of the second quarter ended in a 41-yard Nate Craft field goal after a slew of incomplete passes stopped things at the 24-yard line.
  • Cumberland scored on their first possession of the second quarter behind four big chunk plays. In the end, a 17-yard reception gave the hosts a 14-10 lead.
  • Nothing came from Georgetown's next series before Cumberlands went on a lengthy 93-play drive, which ended in a 16-yard touchdown.
  • Having just 45 seconds to play in the half did not stop the Tigers, though.
  • After a penalty on the Tigers, Guy Bailey took the ball 84 yards to the house to answer and make it a 21-17 game at the half.

Third Quarter:

  • The third quarter featured only a Nate Craft 26-yard field goal to make it a 21-20 game.
  • Both teams had a 3-and-out, and the Patriots turned the ball over once on downs in the frame.

Fourth Quarter:

  • To start the fourth quarter, Cumberlands pounded the ball down the field for an 11-play 49-yard drive, which ended in a three-yard rush to give the hosts a 28-20 lead.
  • With just under nine minutes to play, the Tigers had their work cut out for them.
  • Consecutive complete passes followed by a four-yard rush put the ball on the 44-yard line.
  • From there, a run for 18 yards and a 23-yard pass brought Georgetown down to the three-yard line.
  • Guy Bailey punched in a three-yard rush, and Slunaker found Clayton Davis on the conversion attempt to tie things up at 28-28.
  • On the very first play of the next Patriots drive, John Carter Myers picked off Patriots QB Drew Gregg for a 34-yard return. The interception was Carter Myers' first of the season and, more importantly, helped the Tigers to a 35-28 lead when Guy Bailey completed a 27-yard rush for the go-ahead score.
  • The final five minutes saw the Patriots go 3-and-out and Georgetown bleed the clock out for the crucial 35-28 road victory.
