Tigers Split Opening Day Games at Union
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Georgetown College softball team (1-1) opened its 2026 campaign at Union Commonwealth (3-1) on Saturday.
Georgetown took down Union Commonwealth 5-3 in the opener, and then finished off the doubleheader with a 4-1 loss to the Bulldogs.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
The first five Tigers reached base to open game one as a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch plated the opening run of the season. Back-to-back base hits added two more runs in the second for the Tigers. After a quiet third inning, Kylie Miller sent a sacrifice fly to center field to make it 4-0 Tigers in the fourth inning.
The Bulldogs plated their first two runs in the bottom half of the inning and added their final run in the sixth. Georgetown added one more insurance run in the seventh when Delaney Vaughn doubled to left field.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE
* Kinley Lucas went 1-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.
* Delaney Vaughn was 1-3 with two RBIs.
* Kylie Miller also had two RBIs and went 1-1.
* Kylie Miller (1-0) went the distance, tossing all seven innings, striking out six while allowing just two runs off five hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Georgetown managed just three hits through the opening three innings in game two as the offense struggled to get going. Union got on the board in the bottom of the third after a one-out double to left center field plated one run. Georgetown got another hit in the fifth, but the Bulldogs' base knock did the damage. This time, Union scored two off a single to right field to make it a 3-0 game. Another RBI single to left pushed things to 4-0 before the Tigers got their lone run of the game in the seventh. Kinley Lucas helped evade the shutout with a flyout to left field to bring in Ainsley Herron, but it wasn't enough as Georgetown fell 4-1 in the second game.

* Lilli Koch was 4-4 at the top of the lineup.
* Kinley Lucas went 1-3 with an RBI.
* Ainsley Herron was 1-2 with a run scored.
* Addi Watson (0-1) took the loss, going 5.2 innings and allowing three earned runs off seven hits.

The Tigers host Pikeville (0-0) for their opening series at home on February 17.
