Tigers Split Home Opener with Royals, Racers
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College softball team (2-2) played a doubleheader against both Johnson (1-2) and Northwestern Ohio (3-3) for its home opener on Saturday.
Georgetown took down Johnson 5-2 in the opener, and then finished off the day with a 14-6 loss to the Racers of Northwestern Ohio.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
With one away in the bottom of the first, the Tigers did most of their damage. Three bases-loaded walks yielded three runs, which was all Georgetown needed to secure the victory. The pitchers took over in the next three innings, allowing a combined four hits before the scoring picked up again. The Royals used an RBI single to get their first run of the day before Georgetown matched it in the bottom of the fifth. Both sides also added a run in the sixth as the Royals used the long ball and the Tigers got an RBI single to center field to make things 5-2.

Georgetown was facing a 4-0 deficit before breaking through in the bottom of the third. Northwestern Ohio plated three in the first, and another in the third as Georgetown got a Kylie Miller single to center field to make it 4-1. The Racers added two more in both the fourth and fifth innings to extend the lead to 8-1 before Miller hit another RBI single, this time to right, for the Tigers.
