Tigers Take Three of Four From Trojans
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College softball team (5-3) finished up the weekend, taking three of four from Taylor University (5-7) at the Tiger Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.
On Friday, Georgetown fell to Taylor 2-0 in the opener and then finished off the day with a 9-4 win over the Trojans.
On Saturday, the Tigers took down the Trojans 3-2 in eight innings, and then finished off the day with a 5-4 win over the Trojans.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Neither side got a hit through the first three innings, as just two errors and one walk yielded baserunners. The Trojans managed two singles in the fourth, and the Tigers collected an Ainsley Herron single in the home half with nothing to show for it. Taylor put a runner on third in the fifth inning behind three straight base knocks, but all were left stranded. Kady Dennis singled in the bottom of the fifth but was also left on the base paths. After a quiet sixth, the Trojans used a two-run homer in the seventh to seal things. Georgetown had runners on second and third with no outs in the seventh but did not touch home, falling 2-0.

* Corrinne Garmon was 1-1 as a pinch hitter.

* Kylie Miller (2-1) tossed six innings, striking out four and allowing both runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Georgetown wasted little time getting on the board in game two. After a 1-2-3 first inning, the Tigers exploded for six runs in the second inning, highlighted by an Ainsley Herron two-run double to right field. After a single plated two for the Trojans in the third, the Tigers got one back in the home half off a Lilli Koch sacrifice fly. After a scoreless fourth inning, both sides added two in the fifth. Georgetown went on to win game two, 9-4.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME TWO
* Kady Dennis was 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
* Ainsley Herron went 1-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
* Haylee Stansbury was 1-3 with an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.
* Addi Watson (1-2) picked up the win, going 4.1 innings, striking out one off eight hits with four earned runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE
A lead-off triple and a walk put runners on the corners for the Trojans in the first. A ground out followed by a single plated two for the visitors before Georgetown got a chance to bat. Georgetown tied things up at 2-2 in the third inning, all with two outs. Lilli Koch singled, and then Kinley Lucas doubled in her. Lucas then scored off a Kylie Miller single to right field. Just one over the minimum reached in the fourth. Taylor got a leadoff single in the fifth but nothing else as the Tigers were once again sent down in order in the home half. Georgetown scored the winning run on a walk-off sacrifice bunt. An error by the pitcher let Kinley Lucas touch home for the 3-2 win.

* Kylie Miller went 2-4 with an RBI.
* Ainsley Herron was 1-3 with an RBI.
* Kylie Miller (3-1) picked up the win, going all 8 innings, allowing just two earned runs off seven hits with a strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME FOUR
The Trojans did most of their damage in the top of the first as they plated three off an error and a sacrifice fly. The Tigers countered with a pair of runs in the third. A Kinley Lucas groundout started things before Ainsley Herron's double to right field brought in another run. After a quiet fourth, the Tigers scored three more in the fifth. First, a sacrifice fly scored one before Herron singled in a run. Addi Watson sent a ball to center for a double and another run. An RBI single plated the final run of the day for the Trojans as Georgetown held on for the 5-4 win.
