Tigers Explode for Nine Run Third to Beat Eagles
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College softball team (15-17, 6-9 MSC) beat Midway University (11-30, 8-22 RSC) on Monday night at the Tiger Softball Complex.
The Tigers took down the Eagles in five innings, 14-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After surrendering a hit in the top of the first, the Tigers bats went to work in the bottom of the inning. A leadoff double followed by a single put runner son second and third. Corinne Garmon then knocked in a run with a single sent to left field. Kinley Lucas then doubled to center to bring in two more and it was 3-0 Georgetown after one. A sacrifice fly and an RBI single to right plated two runs for the Eagles in the top of the second but Georgetown answered with two runs of its own in the home half. Ainsley Herron tripled to right field to score two and made it 5-2 Tigers. Georgetown poured it on in the third with nine runs off nine hits, exploding for a 14-2 lead. Just three over the minimum reached in the fourth and fifth for Midway as the Tigers went on to secure the huge home victory.

* Ainsley Herron went 3-3 with three RBIs, a walk and two runs scored.
* Corinne Garmon was 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
* Kinley Lucas went 2-2 with three RBIs, a walk and a run scored.
* Addi Watson (3-8) picked up the win, going three innings and allowing two runs off five hits.

The Tigers take on Kentucky State (3-27, 3-19 SIAC) for their final non-conference series of the season on Wednesday, April 22.
